Wuthering Waves is Kuro Games’ free-to-play open-world action RPG. You play as Rover, explore a world rebuilding after the Lament, recruit Resonators and combine character switching with timing-focused action combat.
Combat and exploration
The game’s identity comes from movement and responsive combat. Dodges, parries, character swaps and Intro/Outro Skills reward timing, while traversal includes climbing, gliding and tools that reduce friction when moving through the open world. Defeated Tacet Discords can leave Echoes that add stats and active abilities to a build.
Wuthering Waves is structured as a continuing live-service RPG. New regions, Resonators, weapons and story chapters arrive through version updates, so storage needs and recommended settings can change over time.
PC access and accounts
The official Steam version launched on April 28, 2025. Steam lists a Kuro Games account as required and notes that it can be linked to the Steam account. The listing also discloses kernel-level Anti-Cheat Expert (ACE), an important consideration for players who evaluate background security software before installing a competitive or live-service title.
Current official baseline
Kuro Games’ published PC baseline for a recent major update specifies Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5 9th Gen or Ryzen 2700, a GeForce GTX 1060, Radeon RX 570 or Intel Arc A380, and 16 GB of RAM. Treat those figures as a compatibility floor, not a guarantee of a locked frame rate in every region or encounter.
Because large updates require additional temporary space for unpacking, leave more free storage than the download size alone suggests. Recheck the newest maintenance notice before a major version install.
What to know before playing
- It is free to play and includes in-game purchases.
- Character acquisition and progression systems are central to the long-term loop.
- A Kuro Games account is required for the Steam client.
- The PC client uses kernel-level anti-cheat according to Steam’s disclosure.
- Regional partner availability does not determine whether the editorial article itself remains accessible.
Our first-look assessment
Players looking for fast character-action combat inside a large anime-styled world are the clearest audience. The main cautions are the ongoing storage footprint, live-service progression and monetized character systems. A Nexrivium score will wait for controlled PC benchmarks and frame-time analysis.
